Newspaper poster final draft

I have now completed my final draft of my newspaper poster and am quite satisifed with it.

I have kept the same style from the original draft but changed my pictures to more bright and visually appealing images which would actually attract people to buying my newspaper.

I have included the original masthead from my newspaper which makes it seem more professional and links them together well.

Instead of the small paragraph of text about the entertainment section, I have changed it to a short sentence in bold text exclaiming its the "Ultimate guide to entertainment in the south west" which is more eye catching and will attract people more than the paragraph of text which was difficult to read and unconventional.

I have also added the logo so people will immediately associate this poster with our newspaper, the slogan and website is also at the bottom.

I did limited editing to the photos but the one with the sky I edited so it looked like a bright sunny day

Radio Advert Ideas

We have had several ideas regarding our radio advert after researching them.

Our intial ideas were to have a disequilibrium between two people and have it resolved by our newspaper several ideas for this were:

  • someone being out of touch and not knowing what is going on in their community

  • someone who wants travel information but doesnt know where to go

  • someone who wants information on properties in the local area but is unfimilar with using the internet

  • someone who is lonely and wants to find love but doesnt know how to go about it

  • A foreign man wanting to go back to his own country because its very boring in his local area then someone reccomends the North Somerset News to get information on all the things going on that he did not realise.
We eventually went with the idea of two people looking for propeties in the local area and decided to use two elderly women as our target audience is the older generation.

After sampling some of the music files in GarageBand which is the software we will use we decided we could make good use of the background commotion noise and fast jingle to set a scene and relay a lot of information about our product in a short space of time which we found common in a lot of adverts we researched.

Newspaper poster developments

Posters from shared area for analysis

This poster displays various conventions of posters by having the mast head in big bold lettering across the bottom of the page along with other media details for example in this one is their website.
The background is very plain and easy on the eyes consisting of one single colour.
The poster displays what its says very clearly with an image of horse riders and text telling you what its about.
The large green text looks very important and bold and makes you stop and look at it.

The background on this poster is one single colour and very plain. There is a varied use of fonts for different sections of the poster. The fonts are clear and contrasting (yellow on blue/ white on blue) which make them stand out well and catch your eye. This could be a good technique to use when creaitng my poster.

The background on this poster consists of two colours together in blocks with writing on top of them, the colours are constrasting and the entire poster follows the same kind of colour pallette with blues and whites. Once again I've noticed that the fonts on this poster are very clear and stand out well against the background, the design is not cluttered at all and is infact very simple but retains a certain professional touch.

I have decided for my newspaper to compose it about an entertainment section in my newspaper I want to have clear distinct sections like in the ones I looked at to try and stick to conventions but would like to have several pictures of convetions.

Poster Development

For my poster I have decided to advertise the entertainment section of our newspaper

I have taken pictures of entertainment venues in my area and decided to go with a blue/white theme to match the feel of the newspaper.

This is my intial idea and design for my poster, you can clearly see the colour scheme I was going for and overall style of the poster with the four segments for entertainment venues, at this stage I hadn't got enough pictures for the other segments but I was arranging to go and take more photos when the weather improved.

My draft poster contains the title of my newspaper as well as the slogan and website address and a small bit of information about the entertainment section in the newspaper.

However I felt that there was too much small writing and it didn't stand out enough so I planned to get rid of the small text and replace it with something more striking.

From my feedback I decided to include the original masthead from my newspaper and not this one, the pictures here are also too dull and it doesn't look like a entertainment establishment that you would like to go to so it doens't work well as a poster.

On my next draft I plan to improve it in these ways.
