Pre Summer work

Before the summer we looked at the course outlines and what we wanted to achieve, we looked at the main tasks we wanted to produce for our coursework and the auxiliary tasks that went with each one.

We looked at genre in detail for section 1B, by identifying the different sections including Hybrid, Repertoire of Elements, Iconography, Style, Setting, Narrative, Themes and Audience Response. We studied sub genres too by looking at some main genres and breaking them down.

We looked at representation including good and bad stereotypes and talked about dominant beliefs in society including Native Americans were uncivilised and savages which made their deaths and the theft of their land justified in old Western movies.

We also looked at movie clips such as Public Enemies trailer and analysed it. We looked at a music video and stereotypes in the hiphop genre and how they attract their target audience.
